第一次知道Ash，是在高中時期，段考完跟同學一起去法雅克逛的時候看到的。
（天呀我的英搖資歷還真短淺）
                                                                               
CD區逛一圈，總覺得頭昏眼花，好多側標寫的赫赫有名，戰功彪炳的樂團，我全都沒聽過。連看到Blur的Parklife，都只是覺得有點眼熟。（但那時我在同學之中已算西洋音樂通了XD）
                                                                               
只是一張張隨意翻著，然後就翻到了Ash。
那時只是覺得這樂團名稱挺特別的，灰燼哩！
拿起來煞有其事地左看看右看看，嘴角帶著微笑，很有一番文青的樣貌。就好像我翻過那一張張陌生的專輯一樣。
                                                                               
奇怪的是現在的我依然很喜愛做這件事。
但是當我摸過每張專輯時，他們帶來的觸感早已悄然轉變。
音樂之多也許浩瀚無邊，但我已清楚知曉永遠堅守在我生命中的會是哪一塊。
那會是第一次聽到wonderwall的感動，會是第一次沉醉在The Asphalt World裡吉他之音的迷戀，會是第一次為My Bloody Valentine流淚的心碎 ..
                                                                               
沒錯， 即使輝煌的時光已過，而救世主尚未到來，但是在浮木的支撐下，我已不可能回頭。
我佇立在這塊獨立飄邈的仙境，享受著與世無爭的哀傷與繾綣。
                                                                               
我將永遠沉浮在英倫式的憤怒與柔情之海。

                                                                 
這也許是Ash最後一次為我們帶來這樣美好的作品，但是他們並非將要消聲匿跡，而是將改以發行單曲的方式來代替專輯。
                                                                               
Polaris有著美麗動人的曲調，弦樂與鋼琴的配置在醞釀與催情上都發揮其作用。
加上憂鬱感傷的歌詞，讓人想起以為早已死透的青春與信仰。
